VIVID one of the leading providers of affordable homes and extensive support services in the south of England, has been awarded funding of £4.6 million from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF). This will fund 50% of the cost of energy efficiency upgrades to over 400 homes in Farnborough.
VIVID has committed to deliver energy efficiency improvements to all of its homes that don’t currently achieve Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C by 2030. We want to make it easier for our customers to manage energy costs and keep warm in winter and this will be the first of a new wave of similar projects to improve our homes over the next seven years. The SHDF contribution of £4.6m will help to increase the pace and scale of our energy efficiency programme.
Making our homes more energy efficient has many benefits for our customers and for the environment. We’re installing external wall insulation to our homes to reduce the amount of heat lost from the homes. This will help our customers to manage their energy costs and will reduce carbon emissions by around 280 tonnes a year. The project will also help to improve the appearance of our homes in Farnborough.

This funding will make a significant difference towards our ambition of achieving our 2030 energy efficiency target”.
Lord Callanan, Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance, said:
“This investment will help thousands of households to heat their homes for less, keep them warm for longer and could save hundreds on their annual energy bill.
“The green energy sector is growing, and this funding will support green jobs and provide the training needed to deliver these vital upgrades to homes.” In order to deliver the £10 million project, the Government will be providing a £4.6m grant through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.
